Description

I worked super hard on this, so I'm going to be running this differently from how I usually do. Please read the directions & follow them!

I would also like to extend a BIG thank you to those who let me use their stallions for this!!

Welcome to Cobra Farm's Field Hunter sale! These big, drafty horses are perfect for fox hunting! While they can be used for lower levels of any sport, I'd love to see them out with the hounds every once in a while!

All six horses are tacked up and ready for you to take out in the fields for a trial ride.

While you may use your own saddle to try these horses, we suggest you use ours since they are fit to the individual horse.

To Apply:

Draw a picture of the horse of your choice either flatting or jumping a natural obstacle outside. You may even choose to draw one/some of your barn's dogs or our dogs (pictured here: [link]) out with you. If you win the horse, pictures may be re-used for DA-HA's upcoming hunt.

YOU MUST: Pay attention to the horse's tack. I gave every horse its own saddle & bridle. Bits were chosen that matched the horses' personalities. I will be paying attention to your tack! Also keep in mind that the horses all have TRACE CLIPS. If you win the horse, its unclipped color is closest to the color on its face/back/legs, not the clipped portions but for these entries your horse must be shown clipped.

Please also include a few sentences about why you want the horse. Either comment with your entry or send a note.

Applications are due by DECEMBER 19.

Rules:
1. Keep the design the same. If you are a HARPG member and the horse has an already used name, you may suggest a new name in your application. Otherwise, names must stay the same.
2. Credit Cobra Farms (diamonddg) in the horse's main reference pic at least.
3. You can apply for any number, but likely will get one.

THE HORSES

1. Midas
5 y/o, 17hh Red Dun Tovero Shire x Paint Stallion
DDS Cantorix x Sheza Lucky Charm
5 Temperament
Midas is a flashy stallion with a pretty, round jump. He is fairly sensitive for a draft cross. He can get fast & pull, which is why he goes in a gag snaffle. He also gets impatient and paws if he has to stand around! Midas is a simple ride, but will run out if he feels jumping would be unsafe. He maxes out at 4' fences.

2. Indian Sun
6 y/o, 16.3hh Bay Percheron x TB Mare
MGM Rustic Sunset x Calcutta
1 Temperament
India is a calm mare on the slow side. She can get a little heavy in the front so we ride her in a pelham in case she needs a reminder to pick up her head. She can be nervous under saddle, but won't act up. On the ground, she has reared a few times if she isn't allowed to move forward when nervous. She has a nice, square jump but can only go to about 3'6''.

3. Sailor - ~EquusEquidae
7 y/o, 17.3hh Chestnut Clydesdale x Dutch Warmblood Stallion
RS Fishermans Friend x Sanskrit
1 Temperament
Sailor is a great horse for new riders. He is super calm, slow, and simple to ride. He has no vices on the ground or under saddle and hunts in a plain O ring snaffle & standing martingale. He has a flat jump, making him very easy to stay with over fences. He can jump up to 5'6''.

4. Big Looks
8 y/o, 17hh Blue Roan Clydesdale x Dutch Warmblood Mare
LCS Heza Big Daddy x High Style
2 Temperament
Biggie is unflappable in the field but can get a little too enthusiastic while hunting. She tends to gather speed and pull, which is why she goes in a full cheek waterford bit. She can be stubborn on the ground, especially when entering the arena. Biggie will also buck if hit with a crop, but luckily she doesn't usually need that much encouragement to move! She can go up to 5'6'' and has a square, round jump.

5. Kingpin
3 y/o, 15.3hh Black Tobiano Gypsy Vanner x TB Stallion
PH Fairmont King x Aint No Thang
6 Temperament
King is a smaller hunter, good for a confident teenager or small adult. He is fairly sensitive and needs an advanced rider as he has some spook & bolt in him. He's not above grabbing the bit and running, so right now we have him in an elevator bit, figure 8 noseband, & running martingale. King is very athletic and could probably jump upwards of 5', although he is only doing crossrails now.
*BlackGlassButterfly

6. Galway
7 y/o, 16.3hh Bay Tobiano Shire x TB Gelding
starter x starter
2 Temperament
Galway was imported from Ireland a few months ago & has been doing great in the field. He is always calm & collected, although he can get a little speedy. He is pushy on the ground but fairly simple under saddle where he prefers a looser rein and will root if he feels too constricted. Right now he goes in a simple D ring snaffle with standing martingale**. He jumps up to about 4'6''.

Could you please do a tutorial on how you make the saddles and stuff?
